What is POD?

POD stands for Print on Demand. Without going into too much detail it is a system whereby you can get your t-shirt (or other items) printed by another company. Recently some of those companies will also sell your design on tee shirts and deal with all the logistics including packaging, shipping, payments and even customer complaints.

Most people don’t have the finances to set up their own t-shirt printing company or deal with the logistics so these PODs have created a way for people to do so with little or no start-up costs. Cafepress, Zazzle and Spreadshirt are probably the most famous and most successful PODs at the moment but there are some up and coming PODs like Skreened that you should watch out for.
